Does anyone know of a reputable breeder or pet store that breeds russian tortoises? I'm hoping to buy a baby/young russian. Thanks for your help!

Have you checked the Kingsnake Classifieds? I saw at least one ad for CD Russians but there's probably more.
I sent a few inquires to people that had ads for cb russians. It seems most of the cb babies are either sold or on hold. I did find one person that had all black russians but I really like the lighter spotted ones. There also seem to be plenty of adults still available. There is an upcoming reptile expo in San Antonio Nov 11-12. I wonder if anyone will have some younger russians there. I don't know how I would tell if they are cb or not though. Maybe it's just the wrong time of year and I just have bad timing.
Thanks for all of the help. Reptile Rainforest has cb russians and I am buying one from him. Our family is very excited.
Well, it looks like I will be waiting a little while for a cb russian. Hopefully we will be able to do more research and find our new family addition in November.
I don't want to confuse the matter, but have you considered getting a hermanns tortoise? I have both Russians & Hermanns & my Hermanns are so much more personable than the Russians. They only get a little larger than Russians & there's a lot to be said for keeping a tortoise that will let you actually touch it without hissing & drawing back into its shell. Just something to think about!
Thanks for your input. I will definetely do more research on Hermanns. I guess I have heard more about Russians and found more care sheets on them so I was leaning towards that species. I think I saw a few cb Hermanns on kingsnake.com.
I agree, my little gal lets me pet her head and legs with no problems. CB of course.
i have to say, i don't have much experience with hermanns, but both of my russian females have a great personality. i interact with them everyday and they let me touch their legs and heads. my older girl even knows to run onto my flat hand in her cage to get out like an elevator, and will push up against my finger with her head as i rub it. my younger one is a bit shyer but still lets me pet her head and legs and will eat from my hand (especially flowers), she also does the craziest thing and stares directly into my eyes, sometimes from several feet away! my older girl just stares anywhere like my chest or fingers
