Hello I was wondering about spiny lizard temperments. I am thinking of getting 1 or 2 of them. Also any "special" factors to consider.

thank you,
eric

I guess the temperment depends on the exact species you're dealing with. I have kept Western fence, Southern Plateau, Northern Plateau, Clark's, and Yarrow's spiny lizards. The Clark's was more aggressive, especially toward smaller lizards (she ate one). The Southern Plateau and Yarrows I currently have are very peaceful together in their 30 long tank, along with a young Chihuahuan whiptail.

They are all very interesting and lively lizards to keep, and their requirements are easily met. I highly recommend Sceloporus as pets.

Of course, these are NOT lizard species which enjoy handling. For that, you'd have to go with a beardie or a leo.
