Podarcis sicula campestris diet

GaryM Oct 25, 2006 04:30 PM

I have a baby Podarcis sicula campestris who is now three months old. I used to have three but two died. He eats Pheonix worms, cut up meal worms, crickets, and fruit flies.
Is there anything else I can offer them to eat? Also, would they eat chicken or foods like reptomin? He has a forked tounge so perhaps, his food doesnt have to be moving.

Hello Gary

My advice is to feed it gut-loaded crickets and cockroaches of appropriate size, heavily dusted with calcium/vitamin suplement designed for lizards. Meadow plankton/sweepings, i.e. wild caught insects, suplemented with appropriate vitamine/minerale powder (as mentioned above)are even better option. Forget about the prepared foods - they make lousy substitute for fresh, live, nutritious food these lizards need to thrive.
