Folwers Toad with sores

Heather_0423 Oct 26, 2006 07:49 AM

My Toad has always had a red spot on her stomache, I never thought anything of it, I took her to the vet when I first got her, he saw it and also didn't think anything of it. But last night I went in to feed her, and the red dot looks like its turning into some sort of sore. She also has one on her right leg, and one where her left leg would start. I have some Silver Sulfadiazine left over, so i put some of it on each sore. There is nothing in her cage that could have cut her, so I have no idea whats wrong.

I'd appreciate any information!

ammonia burns maybe? some critters get sores from laying in there own waste. how active is the toad? does it spend alot of time in the same spot? what kind of substrate are you using and has been changed ever??

She only has 3 legs, so shes pretty active if you take that into consideration. She moves around every half hour or so. I'm useing Bed-A-Beast. I remove any waste, so shes never laying in it, plus when she goes, she jumps away quick and doesn't go back until I have cleaned it up. I completely change the bedding once a month. I've been doing this since I got her and there has never been any problems.

The sores on her stomache have gotten better after I put the Silver sulfadiazine on them. But other then the sores she is acting completely normal.
