Question for Ryan and Bonnie

Ryan and Bonnie,
Do you guys have your lizards de-wormed? If so do you do it yourself, or do you have a vet do it? Just curious, thanks.

Evan

Yes I have had them dewormed. I used to use the vet but had leftover panacur so I just did it myself for the last three. I did get some panacur paste but haven't had a need to use it. I'm kinda uneasy about it because of dosage. Wouldn't want to hurt the critter instead of helping it.

One of my first MHDs I took to the vet and it was loaded with giardia, wich I took care of via medication from the vet.

Then I got a couple more that I took in and they had ringworms, flatworms, and capilarids. The vet gave them a dose of soemthing at the office and I took one home for The other since they had been living together. That was a wile ago and my collection has grown since then. I haven't taken anymore to the vet since thoe visits but am planning on it sometime; maybe next summer. By then I hope to have even more so that I can get everything out at once. Other than that I'm not too worried about worms or parasites.

Forgot to say, with the first MHD I saw tapeworms in her feces and that is what made me take her in. Since then I have checked and checked for worms in poo but haven't found any.

Also I own a microscope so I have examened a few samples and sure enough I did see something squirming around. So Iassume there are parasites yet to be killed. I havent checked in a while yet, but thanks for reminding me.

I would suggest getting them dewormed (if I were you). And I don't know if administering the medication myself counts as deworming them myself or not. But I did administer the meds...
