Harvester Ants-Availability

ruthiesea Nov 30, 2006 10:08 PM

I would like to get one or two Desert Horned Lizards. Before I do, I'd like to know what supplier(s) has a consistant supply of ants. I sent an email to AntsAlive, but never received a reply. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Al

I've heard Antsalive has been having some delays. I have a supply on hand right now, but they won't last long. Winter is setting in now and it's much harder to gather. Right now really wouldn't be the best time to get any Horned Lizards. The DHL's are usually wild caught and without knowing what condition they may arrive in...if they aren't up to going right into hibernation, you'd have trouble keeping them fed over winter.

Thanks for the info. I am not planning to get HLs until late spring or summer. I'm in my "reaserch everything" mode. This is usually followed by my "I guess I'd better get to work on the habitat" frenzy.

Thanks again,
Al

Great to hear it. That's the right way to do it. I'm very thorough as well, so we should get along great.
Like your quote. The latter is a characteristic exhibited too often by people looking for something to keep in a tank. Then asking on a forum "what does it eat?" after they bought it. Head Bobs to ya.
