I just picked up this turtle from an animal shelter this morning. Any idea what kind it is? I'm taking it to another rescue tomorrow, but would like to have a species ID

Believe it or not, it is actually an old male Red-Eared Slider (Trachemys scripta elegans). Gone are his years of the bright greens, yellows, and red ear, as they will obtain this saturated mottled pattern of melanistic pigment and pale yellows.
