Jeweled Lacerta

CobraKing Dec 02, 2006 03:53 PM

I was watching the Jeff Corwin the other day, the episode where he is in Spain. I was hoping to see him catch a jeweled lacerta and he did! I knew they could get long but I was amazed at the body size of the lizard. Does anyone know where I can find a pic from that episode? I'm hoping to get some jeweled lacerta babies sometime soon and I want a nice picture of a full sized jeweled (with somebody's hands in for reference) so I can stare at it until mine get big enough!

Here's a pic of my adult male you can
look at while waiting for your young
jeweled. Sorry but I didn't have a
shot with my hand in the pic and can
not take one at this time as they're
down for another month and a half.
He's close to 17-18" STL if I remember
correctly if that helps.

Two Pics of one of my adult high blue males may give you an impression about adult size:

Hello,
I have a question about egg deposition.
I just this morning collected 13 jeweled
eggs and there were 3 which were attached
and another two pairs of eggs also attached.
I have produced the lepida many times before
but never had any of them stuck together.
I left the attached eggs as I collected them
for fear of damaging one or more by trying
to separate them. If they should separate
while in inbation, I will of course space
them accordingly. Any thoughts on this?
BTW, nice looking male!
Thanks,
John

Sounds OK.
Since problems may occur, if one of the clumped eggs dies, I normally do seperate such aggregates.
Typically this is possible with no harm within the first 1-2 hrs after deposition.

best regards

Actually I did separate the two pairs.
The one triple clumped will have to
remain as is because they are attached
by much more of the eggs surfaces.

I may have had the laying medium a bit
too damp. I wonder if that could have
been the culprit.

I have a second female which will lay
in a few weeks. I will try using a little
less moisture in her laying medium.

Thanks
John
