Who To Buy From? Argentine B/W Tegu...

uf_g8or Dec 05, 2006 08:27 PM

Just wondering what everyone's recommendations were on where to buy a healthy, CBB Argentine B/W Tegu from? Who has fair prices? Where did those of you who own one get yours from? Any breeders in or near Tennessee??

Any and all recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks

I dont own any tegus, so dont ask me about care or anything. Heres what I do know: Bert Langerwerf at Agama International is the largest breeder of them. He loves his animals and is very, very knowledgeable. I have seen some of his baby tegus and they were fantastic. I was even prepared to buy one at a show, but someone bought it when I got back... He's in Alabama. Aslo, Ron St.Pierre (bluetegu.com) breeds the best blues. He also breeds rhino iguanas and red x blue tegu hybrids. He also sells Argentine BWs but I think its only the white-headed morph. Im not sure where he lives though, but he ships. And for some reason, he has no babies availiabole this year... I hope nothing bad happened to them...

So, are you planning to buy one, or just curious? Why do you need a breeder near Tennesee? Pretty much all breeders ship anyway. Also thetegu.com might have links to breeders, but Im not sure. Im not a member there but the website looks pretty good. Well, have a happy tegu expierience! Cheers

Ryan

Thank you very much for the information. I will check those out who you recommended.

And no I don't have to have a breeder in Tennessee. It's just that's where I live and would love to find someone fairly close by so that I can possibly pick up a tegu in person and possibly see how they have their's setup along with the sire and dam.

Thanks again,

I have a tegu from Bert that I got in August. He is very healthy and has the best temperament I have seen in any tegu I have experienced. He acts like a dog....literally. lol. There are a few good breeders on theTegu.com become a member and ask questions if you can't find the answers on the previous posts.

I emailed Bert Langerwerf at Agama International after realizing he was only three hours away from where I live. I drove down to his place and bought a beautiful Argentine B/W Tegu.

And I must say, Bert and his family are some of the nicest people I have ever dealt with. Bert greeted me graciously and showed me around his property/facility. For those who have not seen it, it was amazing to say the least. The place is a haven for various lizards...his setups and husbandry practices are top notch. His collection is unreal. I can't say enough good things about Bert and his animals. He's truly one of the best.

Thanks again for everyone's reply and recommendations. I quite happy with my purchase and will definitely be getting another tegu in the spring.
