Update on Claudius:

PhunkeyPhish Dec 12, 2006 12:39 PM

Today marked 2 weeks since claud's last force-feed. He defecated about a week ago, and today he ate a little pinky all on his own. I got it on video if anyone wants to check out the capture... only took him three shots I think the force feed of the pinky was very good for him. Since then he has been much more active in his home - the most active I've ever seen him.

how did you force feed him?

i have one adult pacman who is refusing food for several months, thanks

i just gently pressed on the sides of his mouth, like his cheeks, and he opened his mouth. Then i just put a little bit of the mouse in his mouth so that he could spit it out if need be, but he ate it down. He hadn't been eating crickets for a while so I wanted to give him something nutrient dense. Then I waited 2 weeks and he ate really enthusiastically so I think he is on a good eating schedule now.

is there another way? i dont really feel "safe" putting my fingers near the frog's mouth, how about with a spoon?

I have used a spoon to open their mouths when force feeding them. It works, but just tapping on their "snout" with your finger causes them to open up wide, and then you just drop in a cricket. If it keeps spitting the cricket up then you need to manually close the mouth with your fingers. 2 months without feed is quite awhile, I bet your frog is half dead.
