Nicaraguan Alligator Lizard?

NanoTrev Dec 13, 2006 07:45 AM

Ok. I went and bought a very nice animal today, from Petco in fact. There they called it an "Alligator Nicar Lizard." I assume since it likes to live in a tropical environment from what I've ready so far, it must be from Nicaragua. Just a guess. Anyways. The information I've found on these guys isn't that great. The most I've concluded from what has been said is "tropical setup." Nothing on breeding, feeding, a specific temperature, and no scientific name for a search of what might be the critter's actual common name.

Can someone give me the full spectrum, or try to? Maybe there is someone who has successfully kept an "Alligator Nicar Lizard," it would be awesome if I could have some information proven to be sufficient in their care. The picture attached was one I found on Google. It simply represents what he looks like.

i had one. theyre cool. they bite a lot though. mine did great on crickets wax worms meal worms ect. the one you got there looks like its about full grown. they like it moist, and love the water. its not a type of alligator lizard tthough. ive seen them as skinks, and even night lizards, which is very wrong. someone said theyre like the red eye armor skink, same care ect. he said theyre related to them too. i hope that helps some
