Keeping them together?

steffenssnakes Dec 13, 2006 01:38 PM

Hi I was just wondering if you can keep a male and a female rosy boa together? I have heard you can, but I was just wondering how does breeding go if you do this? Will they still breed if they are kept together year around, even from the time of babies?
thanks

I know of people that keep groups of 3 or 4 together with no problems but you definitly cannot feed without seperating them into feeding enclosures, which can be as simple as paper grocery bags if your willing to wait there and watch for escapes. As for breeding you might have more luck reintroducing the males after burmation but ours have breed after being together all year with now cool down it all depends on the snakes. The biggest thing to watch out for is any signs of stress on individual snakes. If there all eating without problems and looking healthy you sjoulndt have any problems keeping them together. Of and on a side note if you plan on breeding make sure they are the same or roughly the same locality, rosy boas keepers frown upon producing "mutt" boas.
