Baby red foot soft plastron, no eating

rudymv1976 Dec 13, 2006 08:20 PM

Hi everyone

Yesterday I received a baby red foot tortoise thru DHL,
but I had been worried because her plastron is very soft
and he doesn't want to eat nothing, and when he defecate
made something gelly (yellow) or maybe was urine, by the
way he hadn't had strengthed to get up. I really don't know
what it is but I need help because I don't know what to do,
could someone tell me what kind of vitamins or food can I give
him, coss I have 3 tortoise 1 sulcata and 2 leopards and when
I bought them, they don't had this kind of problems.

If someone read this, please answer me.

Thanks

Rudy.

Do you have any idea of its age? If its very young a soft plastron could be normal. Also the first few days he may not eat after shipping. I would offer food but not worry yet. Soak daily as he may be dehydrated. Check with the seller as too his age. Does it look like the shell is closed where the yolk sack was? I'm sure you know the routine stuff regarding proper care/food etc.
