I got this little baby from a pet store about a week ago and have been trying to identify it ever since, if anyone can tell me what he/she is I would be forever grateful.

Hatchling Florida Redbelly showing incomplete head striping. I am noticing some indentation on the plastron which is often a sign of malnourishment/lack of UVB lighting or both. UVB is absolutely essential and lots of pet stores do not offer it to the turtles they are selling. Here are two websites, one explaining the importance/uncovering misleading info on UV lighting and the other is a website where you can currently get discounted bulbs. Read all the info very carefully and thoroughly, as the number one killer/disease inducer of turtles is lack of UVB lighting. Also, keep it on a steady, but rotating diet of various premade and natural turtles foods such as Reptomin, Gammarus Pellets, Turtle Pellets, etc. And lastly is a website giving background care on Florida Redbellies. And just a warning, they get big.
