Russians out of hibernation

DaviDC. Dec 17, 2006 11:31 AM

These little guys started burying themselves in October so I began preparing them for hibernation & put 'em in the refrigerator on November 6th. I planned on keeping them in until Dec 18, but brought 'em out yesterday. This was the one on the left's 2nd hibernation & the 1st time for the other one. Both are doing fine & eating like pigs!

The 5 year old Russian is still in the 'fridge & will stay there until March. This is the 1st time I didn't hibernate the Hermanns because they showed no signs of slowing down.

I have two hatchlings (july '06) who slowed down in early November. I put them in a cool spot for about 4 weeks and brought them up a few days ago. They are eating like crazy.

Normally I wouldn't hibernate hatchlings, but they seemed determined to shut down. A little nap time seems to have rejuvenated them.
