hey people!

a friend is on vacation and passed this little guy to me for a while. was told that it's a short tailed dwarf monitor or at least a varanus sp. but i have my doubts. it looks like an ameiva (dwarf tegu) of some kind to me. anyone has any idea? this fella's about 2.5 inches snout to vent.
thanks in advance and happy holidays!

Well I'm not entirely sure what it is, but it is definitely not a Varanid.
I think I may agree that it's an ameiva of some sort.

No, its a lacertid. But I am not sure about the species.
Most likely of african origin....more Pics?

It's an asian lacertid, Eremias przewalskii, I think. If anyone thinks different let me know.

Or it could even be Eremias vermiculata. The two species look similar.
