Fufilling my Pacmans carnal needs..

blankavatar Dec 20, 2006 12:46 AM

This post is PG-13 rated due to sexual content.

No, but seriously though, I'm not trying to be sexual.
I was just wondering how to fufill my pacmans apparent carnal needs. In lay-mens terms, I'm wondering how to get my pacman to stop croaking and be satisfied.

Now, this is going to take a lot of creativity, imagination, and perhaps at times minute and detailed mechanical observations. Don't be afraid to step down now and stop reading.

Now that I've gotten that through with, I'd like to fill you in on a 'touchy' subject. As you may have read in my last post, I own a 8 month old, apparently vocal male albino ornate horned frog. He seems very happy and comfortable in his plastic tank, and seems to croak/chirp/honk quite a lot (described in a previous post).
I cant help but wonder if, and hear me out now, if he might be happier if this urge was sated?

------
let me stray from the subject for a second by mentioning my pet Chinchilla, named Skillet. This young exciteable fellow is a very active and often.. well... aroused individual. I found him humping various cat toys and stuffed animals. So now I (and as I've trained my friends to do) supply him with a beanie babie stuffed animal - a buffalo, to be exact. Skillet enjoys this beanie baby so much, just the movie I took of it enjoying its' toy makes some people blush. But, in short, I do have a short mpeg (digital video) of my chinchilla humping a buffalo beanie baby.

If it requires a password, it is "puddles"
--------------------

Anyways, I am wondering if this fufilling-of-apparent-male-needs-of-my-pets tactic is possible for my pacman frog?

Could I purchase, perhaps a toy plastic frog and when my frog Grob starts "chirping", just slide it in front of him?
Or would I be a pet-perv? What do you all think?

Half-joking, half-drunk,
BA

I don't think it would make a difference. My frogs go through periods where they are just noisy as heck-- and anything-- the phone, a doorbell, or a loud voice will get them going.

The croaking is a response to some external cue usually, they hear frequencies that we don't, and we hear some that they don't, so it is difficult to find out what triggers them specifically. Plus, once a frog has decided it is breeding season, you can't disabuse him of this notion no matter how may females you provide. He will continue to call until breeding season is over, female or no female.

That said, I have been sucessful over the years with behavior modification in the form of a cardboard box or the bathtub. Once the frog starts calling and driving me batty, I remove him from his cage and put him in the bathtub or a cardboard box in a cool part of the house. Maybe the cold tile cools his jets, or the darkness of the box disorients him, but after a few nights of this, he pipes down and only calls occasionally.
Certain individuals have learned to never call much once this method has been employed, so give it a try- it ma work for you.

Ah, let him chirp away. What harm does it do? I've always felt that, when my frogs chirp, they are happy not horny. Thanks for the reality crusher, (I know, I know. I've heard of the breeding thing, I was just joking). I can promise you that no fake plastic, or inflatable, (sorry, I couldn't help it), frog will make him stop. He will ignore the toy and keep on chirping. (By the way, I liked your description of their vocalization as a "honk".) Just enjoy the fact that you have a happy, though somewhat "deprived" frog who likes to call for you. Thanks for the interesting post, it made me chuckle. Never thought I'd hear another keeper try to identify with his frog's sexual desires. LOL. Take care.

Happy Holidays, Evan

P.S. Frog harem anyone? (Sorry, this is just too funny)
