I've recently acquired a LTC female Viper boa, and as of yet it still has not eaten. It's been about a month since it's eaten, and I've had it in my possession for about three weeks now. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried live goldfish as a sort of kickstart for eating. The guy I bought it from said it was eating well on adult mice, but it has refused them. She's about 22 inches long and still has good body weight.

Here are some photos of her.

Very nice viper boa you have there. I have never heard of them eating fish even though they like to spend a lot of time in the water. You might try raising the temperature of the enclosure. Something else to try is to remove the snake from the water and after its been out for a few minutes put in a live mouse.

Hi
My Female Viper is presently off her food..... She stopped in Novemberish time.... She did this last year also.... Started back around March/April ish.
I recently got a WC male... which didnt feed for a little bit for me... I eventually enticed it with live twice then fresh killed twice, now hes happily on frozen thawed.
As your girlie sounds quite big she may be doing her yearly fast.
Hope something of that may help
Denise

I see this is an old thread, we have learned much about these Viper Boas as of late. I am sorry for the lateness of this reply.... adult Viper Boas should be offered food every 4-6 weeks , so a month was nothing to worry about... baby Vipers are fed every 10-14 days. They perfer frogs and lizards in the wils but can and will take rodents. Hope this helped.
