Anybody know where I can find a CB CWD?

BD_Novice Dec 27, 2006 11:50 PM

I'm looking to get my first CWD. I'm in So. Cal. I think I'd like a CB dragon. Anyone know of a breeder out here?

Am I being too particular? Are wild-caught just as good?

Thanks for your thoughts,

Mark

SoCal? Have you tried LLL Reptile? They've got stores in Oceanside and Escondido, and I know the Escondido one had some in a few days ago. You can definately talk to the people there and if their dragons aren't CB, they more than likely can either order some or point you to someone who does breed dragons. I shop there regularly and love it, the owners are good people

Definately go CB, no worries about parasites, less stress for the dragon in shipping, and you'll know exactly where it came from. Plus being born in captivity, it'll be used to being in captivity, and you'll have fewer issues with feeding and handling.

Good luck!

Thanks, Jenny.

I called the Oceanside store. They said they didn't have any and that CB is pretty rare. I'm thinking of getting a slightly larger CWD at this one pet shop in L.A. It's been there for a while, and it still seems healthy. Very skiddish though. Hope it'll tame down.

It's being kept in a tank with another dragon that I could have sworn was dead. It was completely submerged under water and not moving. I kind of made the store keeper prove to me that it was alive. Freaked me out a bit lol.

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions.

My dragons occasionally do the fake-death thing in their water bowl and I've come to accept that they're just soaking and pooping. A closer look and they're not very convincingly dead, but at first glance it freaked me out the first time I saw one almost completely submerged in the water with closed eyes. She pooped and then opened her eyes and looked at me like I was nuts.

It's probably skittish because a) its a baby, and b) it's in a tank in a pet store. Get it home, set it up in a nice roomy cage with lots of plants and hiding spots and a big ole water bowl and it'll grow up and calm down.

Good luck!
