Do tegus need uv light (uva/uvb)? Does it depend on age? Thanks.

They way i look at it is in the wild they say there in there borrows alot and come out to hunt and bask so i guess they need the sun to digest there fod and to keep there body heat up.I my self use uvb on all the tegu's i've ever owned.Everybody has there own way of not using uvb, uva, but i my self use a mega ray bulb and change them every 6 months.Good luck

that is actually a common debate on tegu forums. some people don't use UV because they feed mice along with other foods to their tegu. some do use UV because it can't hurt. from what i have personally witnessed, if a UV light is not provided there tend to be calcium problems that may cause twitchig or tremors that are quite noticeable and it may also lead to MBD. i use a reptisun 10.0 for my tegu.
