Ca King Snake not eating, 8 months

pezley Sep 28, 2006 11:55 PM

Hey, any advice on this wold be very very appreciative.
he is 20 years old and he has always been small, even as a baby ) so says my older brother ) but this past year he has only eaten once in 8 month. He is still active ( not so much as he used to be ) but when you put mice ( dead ) in ( tried all sizes ) he just doesnt seem to care. He has never eaten live and we did put one in, while he chased it we are not sure if he did it for fun or for being hungry. Worringly he has formed a bulge around 2 inches from his tail, he has gotten very thin.

any suggestions would be very appreciateve.

A bulge near the end of the tail sounds like either a spinal injury or infection. Might be a good ideal to get him to a vet. It could be why he isn't eating as well.

20 years is a good age for a snake, not sure how long kings live normally but slowing down of eating may be normal when they reach this age. Even so, good ideal to get him to a vet, especially for the bulge near the end of his tail.
