Dufourz_Designz Aug 31, 2006 04:31 PM

I have recently obtained 1 adult male, 2 adult females and one 10 month old Leopard Gecko's.....I am trying to find out how old the baby should be before I release him into the tank with the other three adults.......Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I am not 100% sure about the minimum breeding age leopard geckos need to be, but I would keep her separate for another 4-6 months to be on the safe side.

It is not the age that matters when introducing leos into the same enclosure, it is the size. Sub-adult or juvenile leos will be bullied and maybe even killed if introduced to a colony that consists of leos twice its weight. Wait until it is about 2 years of age at least before introducing them into the tank. In order to house 4 geckos, a 40 gallon is required so that there will be no competitions for space and hides. I personally, do not like housing leos together.
If housed together, leos will have to deal with fighting, bullying, competition, parasite transfer and stress. And if you are trying to breed your leos, it is not about age again, it is weight and size. A healthy female breeder should be 50-55 grams and properly supplemented with calcium. A healty male breeder should be around 40-60 grams and its a good idea to give him vitamin supplements.
Hope i helped.
