orange lipped bearded dragon

ness Jan 01, 2007 01:02 PM

We have a 3 year old male bearded dragon. Recently his scales have turned orange on the 'lip' of his bottom jaw.
What is this?

He has a combined UVB / heat lamp. We dust his crickets about once a week with mixed calcium powder and multi-vitamin powder. Heat in the aquarium is correct according to the care sheets I have read. He is not very fond of vegetables at all so I feed vegetables to the crickets.

A 3 year old bearded dragon should be eating 90% greens. Definitely work to get him eating more greens, even hold back his insects till the evening (with a few hours left before lights out of course). You can drop silkworms, superworms, butterworms etc ontop of a bowl of greens to encourage him to eat them.

As for the orange stuff on his lip, hard to say what it could be. It could be fungus, (yellow fungus disease), staining from carrots if he ate any or something else. A good clear picture will make it easier to see what the orange stuff is.
