Mixing Them Together

z3speed4me Jan 09, 2007 09:26 PM

This might be a stupid question...but can i mix frogs (tree and chubby) with snakes (jungle carpet or green tree) in the same enclosure and NOT have the snakes eat the frogs??? Will they eat them, or will they just naturally attack them bc they are in the snakes "space" and eat them? I would really like to have them together i think it would look cool, but i dont think it will naturally work....

just wondering

mixing any type of snake and frog, espically treefrogs which are generally very active is not a good idea, unless you are planning on feeding your snake(s) an expensive, varied diet. most of the time, mixing reptiles and amphibs is not considered a good idea, though some mixes, such as adult crested geckos and adult whites treefrogs or smaller treefrogs (ie. green, golden, cuban, squirrel, pine barrens, pacific, spring peepers, etc. and smaller geckos and anoles can be a successful, atractive setup. but only with the proper setup, such as a naturalistic vivarium, would i recommend mixing species. having the proper setup is key to keeping different genus and species together.

1st of all, thank you for asking b4 you actually put them in together. stuff like that happens way too much. but no, snakes eat frogs, plus their habitat would be pretty different.
