best first uro?

cabey Jan 22, 2007 05:45 PM

I'd like to delve into the world of uros soon but would like to get some recommendations on the "best" first species. I'm less concerned about handle-ability than I am difficulty of care and sturdiness. I love the phantasticus but I realize that's probably not my best bet at this point. Ultimately I'd love to get into breeding but I'm having a difficult time finding much in-depth information. Any suggestions?

I would highly reccommend Uroplatus henkeli as the best beginner's Uro. In my opinion, they are the hardiest and the most tolerable of slight changes in your temperature and humidity (much more so than the much more delicate phantasticus). No to say that phantasticus are extrememly difficult, but just that henkeli can afford a higher margin of error when trying to get your temps and humidity right when first starting with this genera.
