I have a southern painted turtle, jack, and i do not know what is wrong with him. Maybe he is hibernating, but i am not sure. When i got him in December, he was fine. He ate only fish..dont know why but he did not want to eat any vegetation. Well, now he does not eat at all. He stays inside his shell goes to dark places and does not come out. I put him in the water to try to wake him, then under his lamp, but he's still the same. Is he trying to hibernate? Do I let him? What can I do? Thank you, Ana

I take it your keeping him indoors right? If so, whats your setup like? Most likely the temps are to low so yes hes trying to hibernate. Keep the water temp about 72-76F. Make sure he has a basking area with the temp anywhere from 85-95F.
