a little help with I.D. please

Gregory Jan 27, 2007 12:02 PM

I picked this little guy/girl up from my buddy's pet store yesterday. All I know is that he/she is Candoia and that's about it. Any help with common and scientific name would be greatly appreciated.

I only have experience with Candoia c. paulsoni, but it does look like Candoia c. carinata (Solomon Island Tree Boa) I would check out these sites for more info-

www.kingsnake.com/candoia/ and www.candoia.s5.com

It is a Indo Tree Boa (Candoia carinata). The most common and almost the only ones in captivity is the Western Schneiders Bevelnose Boa (Candoia carinata carinata). They are found in Irian jaya and on some close offshore islands like Waiego and Kafiau.

Hope this helps.
