What did I find in my yard?

FredLobster Jan 27, 2007 12:15 PM

I was cleaning up the backyard and I found this guy dead at the base of a tree near my sulcata enclosure. He looks like he's only been dead for a few hours, and lost part of his tail days or weeks ago.

I didn't have anything to put in the picture for perspective but he's about 6" long.

We live in Austin, TX.

Anyone know what he is?

Thanks!

some species of spiny lizard... a guess would be crevice spiny. Possibly a juvenile or female due to the retention of pattern that mature males often loose.

Thanks... I'll repost in the spiney lizard forum and see if anyone has more detail.

I appreciate the help,
