Sick Uroplatus phantasticus

wmerker Feb 07, 2007 12:34 PM

Does anyone have any experience with seemingly healthy U. phantasticus suddenly becoming lethargic and inappetent? One of my females is going through a bad shed, and seems really weak. Any thoughts on how to bring her back to good health?

Thanks!

sounds like it could likely be a parasite to blame, in which case your best method of resolving the problem would be to take it to the vet and get a fecal done. in the meanwhile try to get that shed off, it will probably help to put it in a rubbermaid with some moist paper towel to loosen the shed skin.

I would go with either a possible calcium deficiency, or Renal failure. Both can be fatal if not treated in the early stages. Usually when they start showing symptoms, it's too late. However, I would suggest taking it to someone that is knowledgeable who can see the animal in person and make a better judgement.
