Question about dusting crickets

Toadychan Feb 09, 2007 09:33 PM

My mom feeds our crickets peanut butter on crackers and all sorts of vegetables, but we probably still need to dust the crickets, right? I was wondering how often you're supposed to dust them, or if it's for every feeding. My toads usually eat 1-2 crickets every other night, while one of my frogs eats 2-3 every other night, and my other frog eats 7 every night (she's a growing baby who needs her strength!). Is the dust only for calcium, or do they have other vitamins as well? And would they require any other vitamins via lamps or any such things? I can't really afford to get anything pricey for a while, and the lamps at the pet store here seem to be out to hurt your wallet...

Thanks!

Would like to know too, was about to post in the frog forum with same question. I don't really want to overdose them with calcium and vitamin powders.

They have calcium dusts and multivitamin dusts. Dust your crickets every other feeding.

Amphibians don't require any special lighting.
