I work as Curator of Herpetology at the Avilon Zoo in the Philippines. I was interested in snakes since childhood. My daughter Fatima loves herps too same as I do (like father, like daughter). Here's she with an albino "Candy cane morp" Honduran milk snake. Very few kids in the Philippines are allowed by their parents to handle snakes, my daughter is lucky to have me as her father.

I agree... my 4 year old daughter is crazy about snakes! Its adorable. We have our family trip to zoo creatures/NERD every week, and she always wants to hold the retics : ) I think they will be her thing when she's older. She has her own snake, an albino burm. She was holding him and talking to him in a baby voice- she said "im gonna have to build you a cage soon" !!! she is so cute and gentle with them.
My seven month old son already loves them. If we say "where's your snake" he looks around until he sees one. He always wants to hold them, but he pinches them by accident so he cant til he's older : (
My children will not be the ignorant adults.

Hello Pinoyh,
I'm Filipina, was born in the Philippines and my father absolutely hates snakes!! One would think because he's a doctor, he'd understand the beauty of these creatures. It's a wonder how I was able to pursue my herp passion! I moved out from home because I had to get rid of my albino ball python if I was planning to stay. So here I am now- living with my BF; happily the mama of:
1.0 Albino Ball, "Vincent"
0.1 Tangerine Honduran, "Angie"
0.1 Apricot Pueblan, "Ezzie"
0.0.1 Snow Corn, "Frost"
0.0.1 Okeetee, "7"

Teach your daughter well, how to respect, care and make the animals thrive- she is lucky to have a papa like you!

Sincerely
A Daughter who Misses her Papa

Thanks for the compliment, 805Ringo. You have an impressive collection there! I also had hard times with my dad when I was just starting to get crazy and fanatic with herps at 11 years old. I almost got "kicked out" twice of the house because of keeping snakes (retics, spitting cobras, etc.) in my room throughout my elementary, high school and college days. That's why I didn't want my daughter to have the same experiences I had as a child. Today my dad is "secretly" proud of me because of what I have achieved as Curator of Herpetology of the prestigious Avilon Zoo. Good luck to your herpetoculture endeavors! Mabuhay ang Pinoy!
