here is a pic of Snappy Jaws the snapper i saved from the middle of the road. theres no water anywhere near my neighborhood except a lil run-off creek. you cant see her "snout hole" in this pic too well, but i'm trying to take better pics. when i saved her she was breathing out of her mouth b/c her nose was full of dirt. she has no snout just a hole- if she looks worn out its b/c we just finished playing chase the lasor pointer- her favorite game ever!!!

Ah she's nice & big, no worries with the pinky. I think the occasional rodent does them good, though something older like a hopper or weaned mouse is probably healthier. I know some guys feed their snappers (commons & allys) exclusively rodents but that seems like too much fat to me. As part of the diet they're sure fine though - and the snaps do love 'em

nice looking snapper. yeah you definately need to get some better pics of the snout. how did you dig the dirt out? that must have been a fun experience!! lol have someone take the pic while you hold it out of the water.

pic is of my guy when he was 3 yrs old

to get the dirt out of her nose i got a toothbrush and had her soaking in water and she actually seemed to enjoy the "scratching" of the toothbrush on the top of her head and slowly but surely the dirt came out. eventually she just blew out of her nose and it all came clean! i'll try to take better pics...shes a hoot! i love how she follows me from 1 side of the room to the other.
