rosey reds are definately a lot better then goldfish!!!!!! try to mis it up though. crickets, mealworms, earthworms, crayfish, and some kind of pellet food like reptomin or trout chow.

Agreed. Goldfish are fatty and usually pretty unhealthy. Like Phantom said though, dont just feed him rosies, offer a variety of foods weekly.

Currently in the US Navy so I have sold off my collection. But over the years I have had dozens of turtles, fish, geckos, and other lizards. Cant wait to get back in the hobby once im out though!

Another thing about goldfish, they're notorious for being loaded with parasites. Whether they can be transferred to turtles is debatable I suppose, but I know a lot of people who flat out refuse to feed goldfish to anything - fish, frogs, turtles, whatever.

I recently got a young alligator snapper and it has been hard to get him to eat anything but Rosy Reds. I got him to eat an earthworm once, but now he just kills them and leaves them alone. I have tried turtle pelllets, dried shrimp and krill, crickets, and waxworms. Is there any tricks to getting him to recognize anything else as food. I feed him in a separate container and I was hoping he will start to see anything dropped in when he is in there as food, but it doesn't seem to be working. He gobbles up Rosies like a champ but I would really like to get him other other stuff.
