Hi Everyone a Few Q's?

yungair23 Feb 22, 2007 11:48 AM

Hi im not new to lizards i have a 3ft green iguana i have had happily for 2yrs and free roams my room now. I have converted a t.v cabinent into a cage measuring approxiamly 4ft tall X 2ft Wide X 4ft long. Its ok size and was wondering a few care requirments on the Frillies.
Do they require as much UVB lighting as a Green Iguana?
Whats a preferred substrate for someone who wants a naturalistic substrate?
Diet requirements? How much baby's and adults eat?
Taming? My green iguana is very tame and comes to me for fruits will a frillie get like this?

The black wall has a hole in it now for the frillie to go into each compartment.

Does this look ok? Im going to put up wire closet shelves for basking and then some driftwood in certain places.
Thanks
Nick

Before asking us all these generic questions like food and UVB and taming, you need to research. As in buy a book. I recommend The Bearded Dragon Manual. It has a frillie section and a lot of beardie info also carries over to frillies. Also, dont buy a cheap WC or farm bred frillie. Those are stressed out imports which almost always carry parasites and diseases. There are many great breeders out there. Here there Be Dragonz and Sundial Reptile both breed them and produce wonderful animals.

Im glad you asked a specific question though about the cage. That cage is a fine size for a juvenile, but an adult, which can get 2 1/2 feet, will need a large cage. You can convert shower stalls into fine cages or order from cagesbydesign.com.

For subsrate, use cypress mulch. Its diggable, keeps humidity, and looks nice. Good luck with your frilled and post pics when you get him!
