Just got back from charging a new camera and took some pictures of my Spotted, which I've had a week as of today. These are much better pics.

He's about 1 1/2 inches. His tank is a 30-gallon long. I just bought him a hide cave that I put up on the basking area for when he gets a little hot.

I don't know. When I picked "him" out of the clutch he was in, his tail was a lot longer than some of the others that we thought were females. I would think he was a she just from the coloring on his chin, but they all had similar color in the clutch. PLUS, the breeder wouldn't sell me a female unless I bought a male with it. I didn't have that much money, so I just got one.

Let me know what everyone else thinks, 'cause either way I'd like to get another when I have the money and I'd like to have one female and one male. Thanks!

Very nice, healthy looking Spotted. The clean, even, smooth growth is a real plus. Some breeders grow their Spotteds at such a ridiculous rate, they can look really odd. Yours looks very nice.

As far as sex, I've heard stories of Spotted going into brumation "ambiguous" and coming out the next year gaining sexual characteristics in a month. If it's supposed to be a "he", watch for "grooving out". The male concavity should begin to show up as an indented groove along the midline of the plastron. With each new growth, it will appear deeper and deeper.

Nice pictures.
