Hello,
Jobi, you really have some great info there. I found it increadibly interesting. Really was eye opening to me. Thanks. I am keeping these lizards now, I love them. They are really the neatist little critters out there I think. I have been perusing your, and everyone's posts, and there is some really great info here. I had one question about your methods for egg laying. How deep do you think is best for a medium? And, you do a certain depth of mostly sand to a little potting soil covered by sphagnum moss? Is that correct? I have been trying to find sphagnum ever since I started reading here, and none of my local hardware stores have it. None! I even tried Wal Mart, nothing. Where do you manage to find yours? Well, I think that's enough questions for now, thanks!

High Bob

I get my sphagnum moss from Home Depot.

At first I was using only moss with so-so results, Then I mixed sand and moss with better nesting results, now I mostly use sand only.
Husbandry is an ever changing thing!

I think they can do with only sand if it has the right moisture and temps, I changed my set-ups to allow 12in of sand per cage, I nested 4 specie of gonocephalus, 5 acanthosaura species and my hipsylurus ssp in only sand. Obviously they understand how to use this medium.
This is good as it allows me to work on feeding and other more important aspects of husbandry.

Hey thanks! So you are thinking that it is better to just let them lay in just sand, without the soil mixed in? Great! This really helps thanks a bunch.

I have actually tried Home Depot, and Lowes, there is a garden store way out far from me, I think I'll give them a call.

Thanks again to everyone who posted to me! I would post images of my lizards, but, don't laugh, I don't have a digital camera. I did have one, but it has since stopped working. If I ever manage to buy another, I will post them for you to see!

Thanks,
Bob

Hello. Try a garden center for the spagnum moss. My local home depot didn't have it but the English Gardens did. Don't know if you have those by you. It was inside with the house plants.

Hello Bob:
Welcome to the forum. As far as "Tree Dragons," whatever the species involved, this is the place to be. There is more info both here and in the old forum archives to get you through almost any problem. Many of us here have been keeping arboreal Agamids and Iguanids for a number of years and have learned to work out many of the unique problems associated with the various genera. Do we know it all; NO!!! But... we keep it lively in here and exchange lots of good info. There is probably more useful info in this forum than you ca find almost anywhere (in english anyway). Enjoy the site, it's a good one.
Have a Great Day!!!
