New enclosure idea..

seductivereptile Feb 25, 2007 10:09 PM

I have been trying to figure out a way for my frilled to have a permanant home that looked good and didn't cost me a fortune.
I found this at Home Depot online. The finished dimentions are 50.78"x27.95"x65" which I though sounded perfect for my frilly. Its polycarb plastic and has sliding doors, cool vents too. I just wanted to get your opinions on it. The best thing is the price, less than 300.00. Awesome!

This is a great find. I have been trying to do some research on the lean-to greenhouse by palram which is pictured and have not found much information, as far as I can tell, you would need to build a back wall for the enclosure, (unless you want to butt it up against your wall, which I would not recommend for several reasons), also I do not believe there is a flooring for the enclosure, (the description on homedepot.com states that there is no flooring.) These are easy fixes but pushes the price closer to 300$ when all is said and done. If you have any other info, please post it as I am also looking for a new enclosure for my frilled dragon as the reptarium I have is begining to fall apart.

Backless indeed. But a nice piece of solid pegboard ( $9.95 @ homedepot without holes) would do the trick. As far as the floor, you could use paint drop cloths or carpet, that should be fine. Usually, my dad makes most of my enclosures, but when he makes them, they're 10ft tall and damn near bullet proof, they look very nice, but I want something not so heavy and not so furniture like. I will probably end up getting him to work up something. The worst part of building something like that is the price of lexan, its a pain in the wallet. I am trying to get a price on the replacement panels from the greenhouse, they're supposed to email me a price. If I could get a good price on the greenhouse replacement panels, I could frame those and use those as the doors. I am still working on something.. I will post pics of what I come up with. If you have any ideas.. feel free to post. Thanks!
