Gravid Female!

reptilicus81 Feb 28, 2007 07:58 AM

What is the best temperature for a gravid female to "incubate" at? Mine is always towards the warmer side and is ~83 degrees currently, but I am not sure what is optimal. My reptile room is heated to 78 during the day and 75 at night, but with the cage heat I am worried she will be too hot!

I've never bred dumerils so I'm no expert but I dug up some weather links for Madagascar that you may find interesting. I never realized it got so cool there, down into the 50s some months and not much past low 80s ever. I would think you could drop your girl down to 78-80 but will let others who actually has bred them chime in

Good luck with her, she looks massive and beautiful!

Thanks...I spoke with someone who used to breed dums on a large scale, and they said that the conditions appear to be fine as they are. We'll see in about 4 months!
