Ringneck Snake Feeding Tips?

reako45 Mar 05, 2007 02:11 PM

Interested if anyone keeps Ringnecks, and if so, what have you been successful in feeding them? Ringnecks native to me are D. p. modestus. I know here in SoCal they're most likely eating slenders, but besides that what have others gotten them to eat?

I've gotten modestus to eat salamanders, snakes, and salamander scented mice.

Thanks, Mike. What kind of set up did you keep them in? Substrate? Heat, if any? By mice I'm guessing you mean pinkies? How big were the ones taking pinkies?

Hmm... Let's see here.. I'll try and answer your questions as good as I can based off memory, if you wanna know more, just ask I'll probably have to go through my records.

What kind of set up did you keep them in?

Plastic critter keepers, (small ones... probably, I don't know, 10" long, 6" wide, 12" high.. approx).

Substrate?

Bark I think. Something like a mix of bark, soil and green moss.

Heat, if any?

Room temperature.

By mice I'm guessing you mean pinkies?

Yes. Although one of them was big enough to down fuzzies.

How big were the ones taking pinkies?

I had a 12" one, and approx. 22" one taking pinkies this past season.
