Bloated newt, help!

Starzchica23 Mar 08, 2007 01:34 PM

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, but I was wondering if any of ya'll had any idea why my Japanese fire-belly might have suddenly bloated up. I've had her for over 5 years now with no problems until now. She lives alone in a 2 gallon tank with aquatic plants. Up until yesterday when I noticed she was a bit lethargic, and this morning when I noticed she was bloated, she's been healthy and very frisky her whole life! She gets fed a combo newt pellets/dried blood worms every couple of days. The water in her tank looks clear, and the plants look healthy. Any thoughts?? There aren't any vets in my area that will see her...

Check the ph and amonia levels in the tank. Try feeding something different such as chooped up earthworms.
