Somthing wrong with my paddle-tail newt?

I bought a newt fomr the petstore about a week ago and on the car ride home i noticed he had something wrong with his face, it hasnt seemed to cause him any problems but im curious on what it is, if its bad, and if it can be fixed. Pease help.
