Planted Terrarium/VIvarium

invertkurt Mar 15, 2007 03:31 PM

I was just wondering who here has a planted terrarium/vivarium and what plants you suggest for Anolis sp. I have mainly dealt with amphibians and invertebrates so I was wondering what holds up best with anoles. I am planning on having a planted 29 gallon and planted 55 gallon in the near future. Any suggestions would be good.

Oh, I already have at least one bromeliad and some pothos per tank.

Hello Invertkurt:
I really think it's great that you want to keep the anoles in a planted terrarium. They really thrive in natural vivaria and quite often breed. Because of their small size they can move among the plants freely without damaging them.
The following plants have worked out well for me and are quite easy to care for; Sanseviaria (snake plant), Pothos, Bromeliads in the Neoregelia group (though many other bromeliads work fine),and spider plant vines. These plants are great for offering the anoles hiding spots under the leaves.
I hope this info helps. Have a Great Day!!!
