I was told to replace the UV emitting flourescent lamp - what did they say - after about 1/2 or 3/4 of a year because they put out less UVB over time of use. Is this true? In the tank where I keep my eastern painted and red-eared slider, I have not replaced it for about 1.5 years now.

It is recomended that they be replaced about every 6-8 months.
My adult turtles go out in the summer so I only replace it
yearly. I do replace it every 6 months on my yearling as
he doesn't go out yet (too small).
