HELP MY FROG IS SPAZZZZZING OUT!!!!!!!

shaylafroglover Mar 19, 2007 05:43 PM

My white lipped tree frog is acting weird. He was at first kinda star gazing,so I took him out a quarentined him and then I was changing his water and he started to like have a seizeur then he was stuck in one position for a little bit .I thought he was dead. Then he started to move again and he ate and I still have him secluded from the others. But he is big and looks healthy. But he does have a lil scratch on his leg that I have been taking care of. Its almost gone. I was thinking maybe he has dropsy if so doesnt that mean to much water? Cause he dont get to much water I mist them once in the morning then once at night and they have there water fall. Any help would be appreciated and soon . I dont have the money for a vet and wanted to know what anyone else thinks I could do for him.

Sorry for your loss. It's always sad when you loose a pet.

You mentioned that there were other frogs in the enclosure? What species? (You may want to have the question answered even though your frog is not there anymore, since your other frogs may be affected by it as well)

Well, I would say that that isn't a white lipped tree frog. You know that all frogs are toxic right? Some more than others. And you should be keeping different species seperated until you have had at least a month and a half to two months of observations in order to make sure your new frog isn't going to introduce something to your current frog population. It just takes one sick frog to harm your other frogs. White lipped tree frogs, from what I remember reading of them, are a bit sensitive to changes in their environment, that would include things that a new frog brought in. Seperate your frogs and watch them carefully, and please don't put them both back in together, since you'll just have the same problem all over again.

Well I did that already and yes I knew they were toxic. But I am actually thinking that she (its a she) is a barking tree frog. Pure barking tree frog species. (If you can understand that) LOL andyway my frogs the two I have left (bonnie and clyde) are alive and happy noisy and jumping all over at night. So all is well and thanks for the help.
