You said..."My water dragon climbed in under the boiler.. burnt his front claws & back claws on one side of him quite badly.. vet says he'll b ok without them but i'm not so sure.. any one have any advice or experience in this kind of thing?"...one of mine grabbed onto a light bulb (outside of the cage) one day...burned the soles of his front feet. They healed well. Just watch for any infection in the toes. Are there any open wounds? If so, they should be treated.
He may have difficulty climbing if he lost claws.
there's no open wounds that i can see, altho where a cpl of the toes are broken there are white nobules at the end where the breakage occurs.. is that a part of his natural healing process?
i must say.. he is eating now & drinking which is a good sign.. he didnt 4 a cpl o days there n i was beginning to panic a bit *-) thanks 4 your reply
I had a dragon that lost a few toes and she was fine without them. The vet amputated them with toenail clippers and treated them with ointment.

1 little girl born 2/2/06
2 male RES, born 1999
1 male lab mix, born 5/24/03
1 female calico cat, born 6/7/04
Thanks. i had already taken him to the vet who prescribed ointment... he is due to go back on wednesday.. the toes will definately need clipping or something cos they keep catching on stuff... did your lizard still climb things ok?
My two dragons came to me missing a few toes and most of their claws, but they still get around fine. They're not the greatest climbers ever, but they don't seem to mind much. Your dragon oughtta be okay
