Good Rosy Boas to breed?

teguohio88 Mar 26, 2007 08:56 PM

I am currently in the process of putting together some breding pairs of rosy boas, and was wondering what are some that are pretty simple to breed. I currently already have a male San Felipes who i will be pairing up shortly

I have a bunch of rosy boas and as long as you have the proper conditions and animals that are in good health, the right size and age they are all fairly easy to breed. In terms of which ones to breed, I would base that on what localities and/or morphs that you personally like the look of. All in all rosies are great to work with and very rewarding when you see babies slithering through the mothers cages.

Your reply was very helpful and will help with making my choice. however my biggest problem right now is I can't find a female San Felipes. If anyone can help me out that would be great.

If you are looking for a lone adult female, that might be a hard find. I assume that a lot of people do what I do, and keep extra females. I believe I saw a pair of adult San Felipes on the Classifieds though if you don't mind an extra male. If you don't mind waiting to raise one from a baby, I would just watch the classifieds for them. The majority of breeders will start having babies around August but you'll see them posted other times of the year as well depending on who has what left from the previous season. I usually have babies anywhere from the beginning of August to late September, ocassionally into the first part of October.
I was fortunate last year to have 2 females drop the second week of September when I had the week off so I got to watch the birthing process. That is always exciting.
