Very interesting frog. It is strongly reminiscent of some species of Theloderma and my guess would be that it is in that genus. My second guess would be a Polypedates sp., but the absence of a ridge from the eye over the tympanum and the general shape seems to point toward a species of smooth-backed Theloderma. I've checked several papers and books so far with no luck. I'll be sure to post if I get anything more conclusive.

Cheers,
Nick

Thanks, you've offered a most constructive comment. I've had everyone telling me it's some sort of Philautus sp, but a local Malaysian student told me that it's a new theloderma sp recently described by his lecturer in a Malaysian university. As I do not have access to local research journals or contact with any herpetological researchers attached to local universities, I cannot confirm its id. I hope you'll be able to find more info about it. Thanks again.

Cool! If you can get a reference for anything published on the new Theloderma, I can help track it down and get you a copy. Just let me know. I'll keep my eye out too. That is a very cool frog.
