Hello Kurakura:
I've seen one of these before many years ago and it came in as Acanthosaura. The only problem is the lack of horns above the eyes. It is either an unusual Acanthosaura or possibly a young Gonocephalus abbotti but I think it's more likely an Acanthosaura. The head shape is a little off for Gonocephalus though the two genera are closely related.
he animal in the picture looks to be a female.
Hope this at least helps a little. I'm sure Ingo or Jobi will have some insight on this animal as well.
Have a Great Day!!!

Manfrey says its an undiscribed specie, they are imported from south Vietnam, they look very similar to my capra like, except for a smaller adult size, much shorter nucal spines and a little gular pouch.

Hi,
Was it just me or did it look like a cross between an armata and a capra? I really think it looks like a capra with an armata's coloring. Whatever it is, looks awesome!

I might add that the 2 first pics are of the same animal and the last one is of another animal. They where bought as 1.1 A.crucigera. The female has laid an egg and it is put in an incubator at 29C. And yes Jobi they look very much like the animal that u posted a picture of, they lack the spikes over the eyes though, but the owner told me that there seems to be a bit of scaring where the spikes where supposed to be. So Jobi you think that theese are of the unnamed species????

no dough I talk to the exporter regularly, his shop is in Ho Chi Minh, this is where they are exported from.

Ok sounds good

They where bought from a german importer at a reptile fair in Denmark. Do you know when there will be any news on a name and description of this species?

Hello,,

Has anything happened since last??? Has the species been described and given a scientific name???

biologen Apr 10, 2010 03:24 PM

Is there any information on the undescribed Acanthosaurus? The animals, the topic author links to, is mine. The pictures in the old thread is unfortunately not there anymore, but perhaps some of you remember...?

The female just laid 7 eggs today, therefore I would realy like to know what species im working with..
