Need some help with Candoia C. Carinta

nm2612 Apr 10, 2007 03:21 AM

Hello,

i have a pair of Candoia Carinta Carinta. The male stopped eating around december and still refuses everything i offer him. I guess he is 1,5 years old. He was a no problem eater untill december and ate baby mice! I tried lizzards, gekko's, scented en non-scented mice. The female still eats like perfekt. Maybe he stopped because it's his breeding time or does anyone has an idea?

greetings,

Nico

Candoia, particularly the males, often do stop eating when it's breeding time. That's likely what yours is doing. Some of mine have gone off feeding for weeks but do eventually start again. Just keep offering food regularly and keep an eye on its weight to make sure its not becoming emaciated. If it is you may have a more serious problem and may need to assist feed.

Thank you for your answer! I also hope it is because of the breeding time. He was always a very good eater and never refused before. He still hasn't lost any significant weight.I know both male and female are farmbred. The female refused mice and only ate gekko's. After 6 months i finally got her on scented mice. The male always ate mice without a problem. I'll post again when he eats!
