Has anyone experienced this behavior?

papasumoto1 Apr 14, 2007 11:51 PM

When I handle my waterdragon, I find that he prefers it best if he is held above my head and my surroundings. It's somewhat strange, but he definitely gets more agitated if he is lowered than if he is held high above the surrounding environment. I was just wondering if anyone else encountered this. I find this behavior profound and it generally makes me love these lizards even more.

Thats normal. They are an arboreal species and like to be as high as possible. They just seem to love sitting on people's heads.

I have!

It's not that bad. I personally would rather get pooped on by one of my reptiles than step in dog poo.

Lolol! Actually, they generally prefer to poop in their water. I have heard of that happening tho, I guess as a defense mechanism.

Yeah they feel safer higher up, sometimes getting a bit of an attitude because they feel they are "bigger" than you lol.. one that I had would poop on us all the time.. I think its just a defense mechanism like already mentioned
